My Best Day by Susma Aryal
One autumn day I went to a big hall where we have school assemblies. I wanted to go to the front of the hall because it was bright and colourful and my teacher had asked me to come to the front and dance. I had terrible stage fright. I was really scared because the boys and girls had never seen me singing or dancing before. I looked extremely nervous and everybody was shouting “go Susma! Go Susma!”
Then Mrs Burton started to play Lali Guras a song from Nepal which is very nice. I wanted to sing it. I was really, really frightened because some people in my class were screaming and giggling. Then I started laughing and singing. I became so, so excited I just sang on. Next, I was smiling and I danced like Strictly Come Dancing in Nepal. I was twirling around like a ballet dancer.
I thought my best friend Chloe didn’t like it because she doesn’t like singing and dancing, when I looked at her from the stage I could see that she was so excited and nervous watching me. Later she told me I was brilliant and she did like the Nepalese dancing because it had lots of twirling, turning around and it was very fancy and she loved my red beautiful clothes and she said that she wanted a suit just like it in baby blue.
Then Mrs Dalziel read out the winners for the Talent Show. I was standing on my tip toes and holding onto my two hands. Mrs Dalziel read out the first prize, she said “Come here, Susma you have won the first prize for dancing and singing. Come here Susma, you have won the prize for the Talent Show.” I was so spectacularly happy. Then my tears came out a wee bit and my teacher was like “Susma, she won!” Everyone in the hall was clapping and cheering.
When I went home I told my Mum all about what happened that day. She was so excited and proud of me, my Dad gave me one pound as a prize and my Mum said that I would be able to go for a special treat to the cafe at Morrison’s.”
