Jamie Rix May 2011
The Scottish Friendly Children's Book Tour with Jamie Rix
On 16th May we headed out on the road to Argyll and Bute with the award-winning author Jamie Rix. Could there have been a better way to celebrate the imminent arrival of summer? We don't think so!

Jamie is a children’s author, an animation writer and director, and a producer of television comedy. He has won numerous awards for each including BAFTAs and Sony Awards and his latest hilarious novel The Incredible Luck of Alfie Pluck was shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize 2010. His Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids won the Smarties Prize and was later adapted for Citv as was his Alistair Fury series.
We had a brilliant time bringing Jamie's particular brand of fun to primary school children across the region.
Watch Jamie reading a story that inspired him as a child as well as his thoughts on the tour, filmed on the banks of Loch Fyne.
Read Jamie's blog all about the tour on our Teens and Young People's blog.

Pupil Feedback:
Gruesome, disgusting, gross and squeamish, who comes to mind? Jamie rix ... Before he came to the school I did not like reading but now I love it. Sam, 10, Tarbert Academy
"I believe that the day Jamie Rix came was one of the best days of my life, it was fantastic." Tara, age 8, Arrochar Primary
My favourite part was when he talked about Alistair Fury when he put a piranha in the bath instead of a bath sponge and it bit his brother. That part was a really funny part. I got Jamie Rix's autograph … I think we are very lucky to have met Jamie Rix. Cameron, 8, Arrochar Primary School
I'm so glad that the school bought some of his books for the library. I'm reading one of Jamie's books in the Alistair Fury series, it's very amusing. I enjoyed every single second of this visit and I'm looking forward to reading another one of his books. Scott, 11, Salen Primary School
When Jamie Rix came to our school I didn't know who he was or a single book he wrote. But when he came to our school some of his stories were really funny and very gory but he was still good and I'm going to read some of his books. Alastair, 12, Lochgilphead Primary School
"I thought that when Jamie Rix came to our school it was brilliant. My favourite part was when I was buying the book … I read my favourite book last night in bed ... The book was good, probably the best book I have ever read! Jamie Rix is my favourite author for now. I love Jamie Rix's books, they are so amazing." Brogan, age 7 Arrochar Primary
"I did enjoy Jamie Rix when he came to our school. He was really witty and made me laugh a lot, but I was also a bit scared by some of the stories. He was very wacky and ridiculous and a great story teller." Ruairidh, age 10, Salen Primary
"Awesome, cool and funny." George, age 10, Gigha Primary
"I think it was all really funny! But the best bit was when Jamie told us about the story of Bugaboo Bear. He said he got shot in the eye by an air gun pellet when he was 11!! ... Overall I thought it was hilarious! I really wish he will come back soon." Kerre, age 9, Salen Primary
