The Scottish Friendly Children’s Book Tour takes the very best UK and international authors directly into schools across Scotland to inspire a love of reading, writing and illustration and reaches on average 12,000 children every year. It takes us 3 years to visit all 32 local authorities in Scotland. Scottish Friendly have been sponsoring the tour for over 13 years and they continue to offer support to the touring programme. In fact our partnership with Scottish Friendly was shortlisted for the Scottish Arts & Business Award for Sustained Partnership in 2010 and 2011.

2011 was an excellent year with tours covering the length and breadth of Scotland. We toured with poet John Hegley, Jamie Rix and Picture Book author Thomas Docherty. We went dragon hunting with Cressida Cowell in the Highlands, took Scottish author Gillian Philip down to the South West of England and survived hurricanes and blizzards with Guy Bass in December.

2012 is promising to be another brilliant year, see below for a taste of some of the amazing authors we will be bringing to schools up and down the country.
