Emily MacKenzie Schools Event

Scottish Book Trust brought exciting new picture book author and illustrator Emily MacKenzie to schools in Edinburgh for a day of special school events!

We were very excited to give pupils at Clovenstone and Kirkliston Primary School's the chance to meet hugely talented picture book maker Emily Mackenzie. Emily draws on childhood memories and her vivid imagination to create joyful stories full of colour and quirky humour which pupils loved.

In this session Emily introduced pupils to her second book, Stanley the Amazing Knitting Cat. She talked about where she gets her ideas for a story and how her home, family and childhood have all inspired her work. Pupils found out how Emily makes Stanley and all his friends come to life on the page and had a go at drawing them themselves. Packed with stories and games, Emily’s sessions were lively, interactive and brilliant fun!
