Writing in Scots
Writing in Scots is a great way for pupils to find their authentic voice, but it can be difficult to know how to get started and progress. This resource by Matthew Fitt of Scots Hoose makes it easy with step by step guidance to enter the world of Scots writing.
These activities will help you to explore how much Scots your pupils are familiar with, as well as exploring simple writing and talk tasks to help them find ways to put Scots on the page. There are also great exemplars to help them, plus a ready made bank of Scots words.
Matthew Fitt is the writer of a host of Scots books including Katie’s Moose which won a Scottish Children’s Book Award in 2009. In September 2014 he will launch Scots Hoose, an exciting and inspiring online resource to support learning and creativity in Scots.
