What is Live Literature funding?

Deadlines for 2012/13

February 8th  – for events taking place between April 1st and November 30th 2012

September 28th – for events taking place between December 1st and March 31st 2013

  • Live Literature Funding (LLF) is a national initiative to enable Scottish citizens to meet and engage with authors (writers, playwrights, poets, storytellers and illustrators)
  • Scottish Book Trust subsidises hundreds of LLF sessions a year in a range of organisations all over Scotland
  • Scottish Book Trust funds readings, workshops and residencies as well as new and imaginative ways of working
  • Funding is for half of the author's fee plus their travel and expenses. Each author is paid £150 per session (generally lasting an hour). Successful applicants (host organisations) will pay £75 plus VAT per session. (Be aware you cannot make up this half of the fee by charging for the event)

The aims of the scheme

  • To develop audiences for literary events in Scotland
  • To support Scottish authors at all stages of development in their career
  • To increase people's ability, confidence and enjoyment in reading, writing, storytelling and drawing
  • Encourage people in more diverse reading choices
  • Promote reading and writing as fun, creative and educational activities

Scottish Book Trust welcomes applications from organisations who work with adults and children with disabilities.
