The Mind Reader
Trinity Academy and Trinity Primary, Edinburgh
The stories, poems and riddles in The Mind Reader came about as a joint venture between Trinity Academy and Trinity Primary in Edinburgh. The aim of this project was to take a group of potentially reluctant boy readers and writers, some in their final year at the primary and some in the first year at the secondary, and through a variety of activities lead by internationally-acclaimed, but locally-based author Ron Butlin, to develop their skills and enthusiasm for reading.
There were eight boys from Trinity Academy and six boys from Trinity Primary involved. We were able to bring Ron Butlin into school as a result of funding from the Scottish Book Trust.
All the stories, poems and riddles were created over five 90 minute sessions between January and March 2008.
