Gaelic and Scots Creative Writing Competition
We will post information on the 2010 competition later this year. In the meantime you can still see information on last year's competition on the Scottish Book Trust Resources page.
Competition Rules:
Who? Entrants must be aged between 0 and 16 years.
When? All entries must be submitted by Friday 28th January 2011.
How to submit your entry?
All entries must include:
- pupil’s name
- class teacher’s/librarian’s name and e-mail address
- name, address and telephone number of the school or library
Where to send your entry?
Entries for Younger Writers (8-11) and Older Writers (12-16 years) should be submitted via
e-mail to: royalmailawards@scottishbooktrust.com
Entries for Early Years (0-7 years) should be posted to:

What can you win?
First, second and third in each category will win a selection of exciting new Scots and Gaelic books.
The first prize winner in each category will be invited to collect their prize at the Royal Mail Children’s Book Awards Ceremony in Edinburgh on 22nd February 2011.
Runners-up will all receive a special Royal Mail Awards for Scottish Children's Books Awards certificate.

When will you find out if you’ve won?
Winners will be notified in early February. The full list of winners will be posted on the Scottish Book Trust website after the ceremony on 22nd February 2011.

Groups who would like to take part in The Gaelic and Scots creative writing competition must register that you are taking part - go to registration and when you are asked which category you are judging select 'Gaelic' and/or 'Scots' .
The Gaelic and Scots creative writing competition pack will be available to download shortly. Those taking part in the competition are also advised to download the full reading group guidelines for the Royal Mail Awards.
Terms and conditions
If you have been successful we will inform you in early February. The winning entries will be reproduced (with acknowledgement) on the Scottish Book Trust website for the purposes of promoting the Royal Mail Awards. We regret that we cannot return entries. The judges’ decision is final and we will not enter into any correspondence. There are no runners-up prizes.
