The Scottish Friendly Children's Book Tour
![]() |
The Scottish Friendly Children's Book Tour brings authors and illustrators to a city, town hall or school near you.
We have been touring children's authors and illustrators for 10 years now and have visited every area in Scotland. We bring all these famous authors to schools to talk to you and your friends, sign your books and answer your questions about reading, writing and their own work. Ask your teacher to get in touch with us and we might be able to come to your school soon!
"I loved it. What else can I say? If there's another one I'm going." Emily, St Joseph's Primary.

We are very excited about touring Simon – his illustrations are just beautiful! Click here to find out more about Simon's books
Simon Bartram loves writing and illustrating children's books. In 2003 he was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Award and in 2004 won the Blue Peter Book of the Year Award for Man on The Moon (a Day in the life of Bob). He has just finished the sequel, Bob’s Best Ever Friend, which will be published in September 2008. He has also worked with Templar publishing on Watch out for Sprouts! This is a unique collection of poems, pictures, doodles and serious brain thinking.
Simon graduated from Birmingham Polytechnic with a First Class degree in illustration in 1990. He now lives in Newcastle with his wife and son.

Michael Rosen is one of the UK's finest poets for children and has been instrumental in opening up children's access to poetry in ordinary language that children actually use. He is the author of many collections of poems for children including Quick, Let's Get Out of Here and Michael Rosen's Book of Very Silly Poems. He was named as the 2007-2009 Children's Laureate this year, in recognition of his substantial contribution to children's literature.
