Kjartan Poskitt - Murderous Maths
Kjartan Poskitt - Murderous Maths
The first National Non-Fiction Day was celebrated on the 4th November 2010, and we were very lucky to have the wonderful Kjartan Poskitt to promote the first annual celebration held at The Royal Society in Edinburgh.
Maths is often seen as dull, boring and useless but not by Kjartan – he dazzled the pupils by showing them how exciting, useful and entertaining maths can be with two amazingly energetic and fun-packed shows.
National Non-Fiction Day is an annual celebration, initiated by the Federation of Children’s Book Groups in partnership with Scholastic Children’s Books. It aims to celebrate all that is brilliant about non fiction and show that it’s not just fiction that can be read and enjoyed for pleasure.
Thank you to Scholastic for giving each school a copy of Kjartan's new book The Murderous Maths of Everything.
You can find out more about National Non-fiction Day by visiting the official website.

Teacher Feedback:
'Very exciting and entertaining with excellent content.' Jessie, Kaimes School
'Excellently organised, very entertaining for pupils and maths was made both accessible and fun.' Rosemary, Drummond Community High School
'Absolutely fantastic. The kids have been buzzing and have been showing everyone that would listen the tricks.' Christine, Liberton High School
Pupil Feedback:
'Yes, I liked it. I was laughing my head off. It was funny and I thought Kjartan Poskitt was FUNNY. I liked it when we had to count 29 lines to make the words. I would like to see him again. I give the show 20,000,000 stars.' Saskia, 12, Kaimes School
'Kjartan Poskitt is a very enthusiastic, perky man. He can be really hilarious at times and makes me laugh. I particularly liked the trick with the number '29' which is made up of 29 lines. Kjartan Poskitt said it was the only number that does it! No, it isn't! The number '33' does it too!' John-Paul, 13, Liberton High School
'Yes, I did enjoy it! We actually got to see someone famous which I never normally get to see!' Dylan, 12 Kaimes School
