I am Not There by Remzike Sherifi

(Dedicated to the day when I received news of my mother passing away)

I am not there

Sky in darkness,
rumbling thunder,
fog and storm,
waves in the sea.
I am at a crossroads alone
With no solution where to go
My pathways are blocked
The spiral of a tornado threw me into lava of an erupting volcano I feel buried under artic ice And my blood and bones are frozen Earth under my feet is shaking Everything around me collapsed I got the news my mother was gone

From my eyes I cry blood
Pain in my spirit and my soul
With a broken heart I have a stone in my chest I can’t find peace and serenity As a shadow, guiltiness will follow me for the rest of my life With no comfort Guilt for not being there for my mother’s last destination For her last wish and last goodbye To put a handful of soil and red roses on top of her coffin.
My pathways are blocked
I don’t have a solution
I am not there...
