First Aid for Fairies and Other Fabled Beasts by Lari Don
First Aid for Fairies and Other Fabled Beasts
by Lari Don
Category 2: Younger readers (8-11 years)
About the book
Helen has absolutely no interest in becoming a vet like her mother. So she isn't best pleased when asked to help an injured horse. Only this horse isn't entirely normal ... and nor are his friends.
Without warning, Helen is thrust into an extraordinary world full of magical rituals, fantastical creatures and a dangerous, powerful beast known as the Master, who would destroy it all.
Everything hinges on finding the lost Book of Wisdom before the Winter Solstice. Can Helen work out the riddles and help her new friends to make amends for a foolish prank?

About the author
Lari Don was born in Chile, and travelled round the most exotic parts of South America and the Caribbean before she was old enough to notice any of it. She now lives in Leith, and works as a storyteller, visiting schools with traditional tales from Scotland and all over the world (with a particular affection for stories from Chile).
First Aid for Fairies and Other Fabled Beasts is Lari’s first children’s novel. She wrote it at night while her own children slept, and finished it when her youngest daughter started nursery. Lari’s currently working on her second novel, distracted by her new kittens (Winnie and Tam Linn) who keep chasing the mouse and standing on the keyboard trying to type cats into every chapter.
