Days Like This by Kira Lambert Gorwyn
A memorable day for me must be the day that me and my friend Kate went to Alton Towers for her 11th birthday, we went with her mum and her sister called Laura and Millie. The reason why I remember it so much is because it was my first time at a theme park, it took around 3 and a half hours to get there in the car, but it seemed shorter than that because we talked most of the way there. When we arrived I thought it was absolutely amazing because of the size of the roller coasters, the first ride me and Kate went on together was The Spinball Whizzer, and the line was pretty short because it was the beginning of the day. After going on a few of the rides we went to McDonalds for breakfast (though it is now a Burger king) and we had pancakes and lorne sausages but soon we left to go on more rides, when we went to the ride Hex we thought it was the most confusing because it looks like you are spinning around the room but you hardly move. Whilst we were making our way to the next ride me and Kate went into the big gardens in the centre which has hundreds of trees so we got lost around the middle and spent around an hour trying to find our way out, but be both thought it was really funny when we left and found Laura and Millie. When me Kate and Millie went to wait in line at the roller coaster Oblivion it was really long, so we waited ages to get there, and when we did they said Millie was to small to ride (because she was only 9), she was so upset that the people working there offered her a pass to skip another ride's line so she was happy.
After we went to lunch at KFC we decided to go to the Spin ball Whizzer again but after it we both felt really sick because we had eaten so much beforehand. For Kate's birthday present I got her a Polly Pocket set and I remember being very pleased because she said it was one of her best presents yet: When the park started closing me, Kate and Millie all ran around looking for short queues and we found several, but the best one was Rita, "the queen of speed" which had extremely long queues all day but when then we hardly had to wait a minute before we could get on. On our way home we played games and with the Polly Pockets so we were easily occupied and the journey was over quickly. I stayed round Kate's house that night, we were planning on staying up all night but we were exhausted and didn't last an hour.
I think that I will always remember this day because it was one of my most exciting days as a child and my fondest memory.
