Days Like This by John Dupre

It was March 2007 and the Co-operative Insurance cup final was to be played between Kilmarnock FC and Hibernian FC. I have been a Hibs fan since I was born and I was looking forward to going to the final with my uncle David and we were both really exited. Once we had dyed our hair green (which is the Hibernian colour) we drove to Glasgow. The journey took much longer than usual because of road works.

It was nice and warm in the car but out side I could see slushy rain on the motorway, and I really hoped that the game would not be cancelled. We had lunch is Glasgow with a friend of my uncle and then we made our way to Hampden Park which was the neutral ground for the game.

It was an amazing sight seeing Hampden Park full of fifty two thousand football fans with thirty two thousand of them Hibs supporters.

Ten minutes into the first half it started snowing but that didn't stop Rob Jones because he scored with a header from a corner kick. That was all the excitement of the first half. The fifteen minutes of half time is when I always buy a hot pie from one of the food stalls. You can smell all the food from the end of the line when you start queuing and it makes you look forward to the pie even more.

The snow had stopped and there was a roar from all the supporters as the players came out for the second half. There was a lot more action as the game progressed. Benji the Hibs star striker scored the second goal with his special talent. Then Steven Fletcher, another Hibs striker scored the third goal as he slid the ball passed the Kilmarnock goal keeper in a superb show of skill. Kilmarnock tried every thing to stay in the game and managed to score but that was not enough because Benji scored another goal to make the score 4 - 1 to Hibs. Then when the Kilmarnock goal keeper made a mistake Fletcher was near by and took the chance and glided the ball through the goalies legs into the back of the net.

Soon afterwards the game ended and all the Hibees were celebrating. I could feel the cold air on my face and seeing the players celebrate was spectacular. I saw all of them get there medals and Rob Jones then lifting the cup in glory. After a cup fmal the winning team go back to their home town for a triumphant paraded. My uncle wanted to see the open top bus that the players celebrate on so we drove to Edinburgh to see it. I had been an exciting but long day and when my uncle dropped me off at home I went straight to bed. I fell fast asleep as I was so tired.
