I am the committee rep for the Penicuik branch of the Tyne & Esk writers' groups. I enjoy reading my work to audiences and regularly host writers' evenings where we showcase new work to the public. I also love to illustrate my work and take great pleasure in making up stories for children.
About writer's work:
I am particularly interested in emotion and a lot of my writing focuses on overcoming emotional or mental difficulties. I like to bring a humorous element to my work without diminishing the serious nature. My first novel, The Device, The Devil and Me was published last year and I have two more in the pipeline. My illustrated poem, Legend of the Raku Ninja was a runner up in Manga Jiman competition held by the Japanese embassy in London. I recently had a poem commissioned by artist Robin Wood and The Woodland Trust to encourage children’s curiosity of nature based on characters the artist created.About writer's events and projects:
I took part in the Scottish Book Trust Mentorship in Schools Scheme this year and have gained great confidence in the sessions I hold. I received some wonderful feedback from the children who took part. I am interested in holding workshops to enable self-expression through writing and creativity and welcome any kind of audience from any age or background. I am a big fan of creating ebooks to show off the participants work in a free and accessible way – if desired.
