Lisa FosterBiography:
I'm a playwright and fiction writer originally from the Borders. I studied German at Oxford, and lived in Germany and Switzerland for many years as a teacher, translator and radio journalist. My first stage play, Gorgeous Avatar, was performed by the Traverse Theatre in 2006, and I've also written plays for BBC Radio 4, BBC Scotland and BBC7. Formerly Virtual Writing Fellow for Dumfries & Galloway Arts Association, I've taught on the Creative Writing MLitt at Glasgow University Crichton Campus, and currently teach Advanced Creative Writing for the Open University, and the Young Writers' Group for Edinburgh's Traverse Theatre.About writer's work:
I write plays for stage and radio, as well as short fiction. I value imagination and ideas and my work is often playful. I'm interested in the human condition, shifting perspectives, technology, ecology, transformation, and worlds where all is not as it seems. I'm also interested in digital and literary experimentation. Awards: New Writers' Bursary, Scottish Arts Council Robert Louis Stevenson Fellow, National Library of Scotland
About writer's events and projects:
I'm available for readings and creative writing workshops. Topics include short fiction, playwriting, getting started and writing for the ear. I've also run sessions on podcasting, blogging and kinetic poetry. I have a PGCE and have taught on the Traverse Theatre's Class Act project in Scotland and Russia. I prefer working with small groups of motivated writers.
