Biography:
Harry Morris aka ‘Harry the Polis’, was born on 17th September 1951, in the ‘Plantation’ area of Glasgow. At the age of 21 years, he realised his lifetime ambition when he enrolled as a Police Officer with the City of Glasgow Police, where he worked in several Specialist Departments, during his career. Often referred to as being a fair, honest and likeable character, who utilised common sense and discretion throughout his police service. During his police career he worked on the Beat, Traffic Patrol cars, Motor Cycle section, (scoring exceptionally high marks for his driving skills) Plain Clothes, Surveillance Unit, CID, Drug Squads, Major incidents, Crime Intelligence, Fraud Squad, to name but a few. In 1999, he was approached to manage a Scottish Folk Band and immediately took up the challenge, using his persuasive personality and marketing skills, to transform them from an average ‘pub band’ to one of International status with great success, touring around Europe and achieving recognition everywhere they performed. Having sustaining a serious injury on duty, he was eventually forced to retire from the police service, having earned recognition with various Chief Constables, awarding him High Commendations, Bravery Awards, a Royal Humane Certificate in Parchment and a Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. During his colourful, illustrious career of wealth of experience in various police departments, he kept a diary of the many humorous and hilarious incidents that he was involved in, and of which he now enjoys a successful career writing about. Not content with his writing success, Harry has now ventured into performing a ‘Stand-Up’ Storytelling routine which is featured on YouTube and is now enjoying touring and performing his many stories from his books, at concerts around the country to ‘Sold Out’ venues, with several offers to tour abroad.
