Biography:
Charlie James lives in Edinburgh with her husband, two children, a dog, a large pile of ironing and a garden full of weeds. She has previously worked in the world of publishing as an editor and a literary agent. She was inspired to write by her children and their friends.

FISH and DINO EGG are two comic novels by Charlie James about the wild adventures of the Finn Family.

The books are aimed at 7-11s and describe the hilarious antics of Stacey, Ned and Bill as they muddle through a chaotic family life, dealing with killer whales, bullies, international spies, baby dinosaurs and parents who often seem completely out of touch with reality. Both books are hilarious roller-coaster reads, but they also contain a surprising number of facts … including (in DINO EGG) some truly disgusting information about prehistoric poop that you might well not want to know!.

FISH has been awarded the Fantastic Book Award 2007 by Lancashire Libraries and the Phoenix Lambeth Book Award 2007. It has been published in America and was made into a BBC cd boxed set.

DINO EGG has won the Phoenix Lambeth Book Award 2008 and been nominated for the Royal Mail Award 2009 and the Lancashire Libraries Fantastic Book Award 2009.

ICharlie James regularly gives numerous talks and workshops around Britain. There are two types of talks: one, engaging the children with her books This includes role-playing, humour, facts and art projects linked to the characters and events.

The second is a workshop about reading and writing. It encourages and enables children of all levels, ages and ability to read and express themselves through story writing in a relaxed atmosphere where they can let their imagination run riot.
