Biography:
1929, born in Port Mholair, An Rubha, Isle of Lewis.

In 1952, graduated MA from the University of Aberdeen.

Three years as Head of a Primary School in Ayrshire , three more in Senior Secondary in Lanarkshire; three in a rural Primary School in Argyle.

1962 - joined BBC Radio as Producer of educational programmes and, based in Edinburgh, continued in that post for nine years.

In 1970, joined BBC Children’s Television, based in London

In 1971 – Appointed producer of educational materials at the University of Strathclyde.

1975 – Director of Media Services, University of Glasgow

1989 - Retired to write books and set up Lochran, Ltd. an independent television production company. Produced a number of Gaelic television series for Channel 4, Grampian Television and BBC2. Discontinued television work in 1997
