Have you run a particular project which helped pupils to develop their literacy skills by developing their excitement about, enthusiasm for and engagement with books, poems, oral storytelling and language work?
Have you found a really effective way of using literature across the curriculum in your school or organisation?

If the answer to any of the above is yes, read on!

We firmly believe that giving pupils the opportunity to work creatively with literature and language has a tangible and important impact in the development of literacy skills throughout their school experience. We want to celebrate and support the very best practice around the creative use of literature and language with school children. The Standard Life Best Practice Award recognizes projects that are innovative, effective and that can demonstrate a positive impact on pupils.

Five nominations will be shortlisted for the Best Practice showcase at Creative Sparks, Scottish Book Trust’s conference.  One project will be chosen by conference delegates as the Standard Life Best Practice Awards winner.

£1000 worth of Literature and Language resources for your school

The winning project will win resources for the school or organisation to the value of £1000 to support its ongoing work with creative approaches to literature and language.  The school or organisation can, with support from Scottish Book Trust, design how to allocate the available resource over one or all of the following areas:
• CPD for staff
• Books for the school or organisation
• The opportunity to work with writers, poets and storytellers.

Deadline for Nominations is 5pm on Friday 16th January
Shortlisted Nominees will be informed by Monday 2nd February
