The Prince of Mist is a book about a young watchmaker’s son, in the year 1943, named Max Carver. His dad decides that he needs to move his family out of the city to save them from the war.
Unfortunately at such short notice all they could find was a small beach house getaway that many years ago was owned by a rich couple. Their son died in a mysterious and traumatic accident and his parents have never been seen since that day. Max discovers that all is not as it seems and teams up with his sister named Ailsa and a young villager named Roland on his quest to find out what really happened.
This is a fantasy book but it is set on earth giving it a more realistic if not more believable story. Max, Ailsa, Roland and Victor Kray are the four main protagonists in this fluently written, exceptionally crafted book by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.
The ending is bitter-sweet, just enough sadness to really feel it but not enough to ruin the rest of the story. I would give this book 4.5 stars, it is an excellent read and I would recommend it to people aged 12-15.
