The Escape is the first book in the Henderson’s Boys series and is by Robert Muchamore the same author who wrote the CHERUB series. The story is based in France in the summer of 1940 and features Marc Kilgour a 12 year old who was abandoned as a baby and Paul and Rosie Clarke whose father works as a salesman for the imperial wireless company. But soon enough things change for the Clarkes as they find there being hunted by the Nazis and only Charles Henderson a British spy can help them but only with the help of Marc, the chase is on.
I found this book was a brilliant read and hard to put down with the author keeping you on tenterhooks almost all the time. The plot just keeps going on twist and turns and the author has used the threat of death and torture by the Nazis to full effect to make the book have more life.
The ending of the book is very well done with it making you want to go out and get the second book in the series the instant you’ve finished. The detail the author has but into this book is brilliant, you can read it over and over again without getting bored because of the extra things to notice. Overall a brilliant book I would recommend to anyone, a must read.
