Otto Malpense lives in an orphanage. He has always been different from the other children; he is extremely intelligent and has a photographic memory. The only physical difference between him and the other children is his snow-white hair. When the government decides to close down the orphanage he tries to stop it, so he hypnotizes the prime minister on live television with entertaining results. Due to these villainous actions he is abducted and taken to a school for super villains of the future, housed under a live volcano. It is here that he finds out that there is a whole other world of villains and spies.
Soon he and his fellow students decide that they don’t want to be prisoners in the school for the six years that is compulsory, they have to escape…
I enjoyed H.I.V.E because although the theme is extremely far fetched the way the author portrayed the characters and wrote the plot is very realistic. It makes you wish the school did exist and that you were one of the pupils! It has an action filled plot with many different twists and turns. The author uses sophisticated vocabulary and very technical language, which enhances the realism.
I would recommend H.I.V.E to a good reader who likes action books with far-fetched yet believable themes. It would also appeal to those who like books about children and teenagers who live extraordinary and unbelievable lives (like we all wish we did).
I think it would make a really good movie, as it would be amazing if it was done correctly.
