Hi Johnny

This delightful and colourful story concerns a pedlar whose cheerful voice crying his wares was well-known in the villages and hamlets south of Edinburgh in the year 1540. His life seemed as peaceful as the lanes along which we walked until he was attacked by a band of outlaws. This started a chain of events which brought many adventures. Tom, the boy groom at an inn, an Abbot, the evil nobleman known as "The Bear", witches, and the afbulous gypsy king all play their part in this exciting story. But it is, perhaps the gaberlunzie, the beggar with the fine suede boots, who is the strangest character of all.
