Two friends have been singing duets together since they were in play-group: from Gaelic songs at the Mòd to Christmas carols in the Church, from end-of-term school musicals to close-harmony country music at the local social club. They are already established as stars within their own close-knit community. The next step would surely be to go in for the nationwide “Shine!” Talent Competition, coming soon to the SECC in Glasgow. Except that one of the friends is desperate to become a pop-star while the other wants to study, do well in her exams, and go to University… The ill-tempered split-up that ensues affects both families, causing wounds that it seems may never heal!
