Book Week 2009

Book Week 2009 - Bannockburn Primary School, Stirling

On Monday 9th February the pupils of Bannockburn Primary had a chance to meet some professional authors! The nursery to P2 classes received a visit from storyteller and puppeteer The Majik Bunnie and the P3s received an entertaining visit from author Aileen Paterson who wrote some books about Maisie the cat!  Primaries 4 and 5 were visited by Matthew Fitt and Primary 6 by Scoular Anderson both of whom entertained and stimulated the young writers. Our Primary 7 pupils received an inspiring visit from Keith Charters.

The children used these author visits as stimulus for a great deal of work which was displayed to parents during a recent parent meeting.

Principal Teacher Mrs Mellor, organiser of book week said,” Book Week was a fantastic event where the pupils were inspired by a selection of Scottish authors and storytellers. Without the support of our Fundraising Committee and Scottish Book Trust events such as this would not be such a success.”
