Kate: Eoin Colfer Event
To celebrate the launch of Eoin Colfer’s seventh book in the Artemis Fowl series the children’s team headed off to Newcastle to hear all about the Atlantis Complex. This week, Kate stops by the blog to fill you in on the laughter that was had during the one hour event with Eoin.
Chris, Heather and I boarded the train to Newcastle to watch the wonderful Eoin Colfer discuss his new title, the Atlantis Complex, an event organised by the wonderful team at Seven Stories, the Centre for Children's Books. When we arrived there were already hordes of very excited school children who had also travelled to hear what was in store for Artemis in the seventh book.
And Eoin did not disappoint. The hour event was filled with hysterics as Eoin shared stories of his family life, growing up in Ireland and some very embarrassing stories about his two sons; just as well they weren’t there to hear them. Eoin also filled us in on his new title. From the Atlantis Complex we can expect some strange behaviour from Artemis– he seems different. Something very terrible has happened, he has become nice. Eoin explains that the fairies diagnose Atlantis Complex – that’s obsessive compulsive disorder to you and me – dabbling in magic has damaged his mind. You can hear Eoin discuss his new book in more detail in the short video below.
If you’re a big fan of Artemis Fowl then you will be glad to hear that Eoin announced that this will not be the last book in the series, as one more should be released in the next couple of years so stay tuned to hear more.
For those of you who want more information on the Atlantis Complex then watch the video below. Enjoy!
