NaNoWriMo: Look At Me I'm So Clever!
Have you written something really clever? Is it so full of brilliant metaphors and awe-inspiring imagery that it’s bound to win every literary prize going? (If the judges understand it, you’re much cleverer than them.)
If the answer is yes, bin it, you’ve almost certainly written something really boring. People do still love intelligent fiction, but they don’t like smug writers.
Write because you love to write, write because you have something to say, write because you want to say something in a different way, write because you need to; write for any reason other than the need to impress other people, they really don’t care.
