New term, shiny new things

Scottish Book Trust has spent the summer amassing a wealth of new resources to help teachers, librarians and other learning professionals.  In the coming weeks, we’ll be posting a series of blogs letting you know about new content. In the first of these below, you can find out more about what we’re bringing your way.

As we move into a new school year, Scottish Book Trust will be unveiling not only some brand new resources but also a whole new section of the website, containing all the teaching and professional development materials we offer.

As Curriculum for Excellence is now here, we know that the materials we provide for the learning community need to be closely tailored to suit the new curriculum. We’ve tried to make things as easy as possible for busy teachers by documenting all the Experiences and Outcomes covered in each resource.

We’re really excited by the quality of what we’ll be able to provide for you, and as a wee taster, we want to draw your attention to three brand new resources:

  • Michael Rosen’s powerful and inspiring keynote speech from our Creative Sparks conference. The theme is “Igniting a desire to read and write” and Michael’s speech provides plenty of ideas about how you can bring books and reading to life in your classroom this year!

  • A comprehensive teaching resource for Level 1 on Margaret Ryan’s book Roodica The Rude: Who Stole the River?
  • Two exclusive videos of Margaret Ryan talking about the Roodica The Rude series.

Our Teachers blog will be the main platform for letting you know about new resources. So, from now on, there’ll be an update via the blog whenever new things are available. And of course, we’ll still be using the blog as a means for teachers to share ideas and classroom practice each week. So be sure to check in regularly, or follow us through Twitter and Facebook, and we’ll keep you in the know!
