Plain English training

Of interest to: All organisations who wish to improve their written communication

Length: half day

Plain English is writing that is as easy to read and understand as possible. It is more than simplifying sentences and abolishing jargon. Plain English matches the needs of the reader with the needs of the writer. 

Plain English is not about overly simplified writing. It is about clearly explaining meaning to ensure the reader understands. Plain English is effective and efficient.

Plain English also includes elements of design that will make documents more readable. Small changes can make important documents easier to read for readers who struggle with their literacy level or who have a learning difficulty. 

Please note: In order to make the course most effective we prefer to use written samples from your organisation. This can be arranged at time of booking enquiry.

SQA Assessments

Scottish Book Trust would be pleased to offer SQA Assessments for your SQA award relating to early childhood education. Tracy Lowe is a qualified A1 Assessor. Please contact her directly to discuss your award, assessment requirements and freelance rates.
