Bookbug's Patron - Julia Donaldson
Scottish Book Trust is delighted to announce that multi award winning author and Children’s Laureate Julia Donaldson has agreed to be patron of the Bookbug programme.
Julia who was born in London but now lives in Glasgow, is most famous for her best-selling picture book, The Gruffalo, which was made into an Oscar-nominated animated film last year. To date she has written 160 books. Commenting on her appointment, Julia said:
“I am delighted to have been made patron of the Bookbug programme. Showing children how much fun and excitement books can bring has always been a subject close to my heart, and I hope that my patronage will highlight the excellent work being done by the Bookbug programme to encourage parents and children to discover the joy of sharing books.”
Julia's book What the Ladybird Heard was gifted to all P1 pupils in Scotland in November 2012 as part of the Bookbug Programme. You can find out more about the P1 book project here and view pictures of a special event we held with Julia Donaldson in Angus.
