A Special Day by George Rae
Hello my name is George Rae. I go to Dalkeith High School and I am writing about a special day in my life. It happened one Sunday morning. I was playing for my football team Dalkeith cyp in a cup match.
When I got to my teams changing room everyone was very nervous. It was light raining which made the pitch slidy. So we were in the changing rooms all getting ready for the match. We headed out to the field we done our warm up for about 15 minutes.
The referee blew the whistle for the match to begin. Everyone got to there positions. I was playing right midfield. The whistle blew they kicked off. It came straight to our half we kicked it back up and the game went on like that for at least 30 minutes then they kicked and somehow it was a goal…
We couldn’t believe it but we kept our hopes up the whistle blew for half time. We got a drink and we got ready for the second half we went on to the pitch and the whistle went we all ran to the ball and I got it then I crossed it in and we scored. The crowd were going crazy, it felt great.
There were only 5 minutes to go so my teammate got it and ran up the side of the pitch and crossed it, but the other team headered it out and it came to me. I hit it my hardest and it looked like it was going over but it just went under the bar - it went in! It was great, the crowd were cheering like they never have before. It was brilliant … what a feeling.
